Amazon and Rivian are back together again.
The e-commerce giant is collaborating with Rivian also has a subsidiary On a specially designed, pedal-assisted four-wheeled cargo bike. The bike will likely be based on the TM-Q quad that was also unveiled today in San Francisco. Amazon says it wants to expand its fleet of micromobility vehicles with thousands of ATVs that it will deploy across Europe and the United States.
The deal signals the next phase in the partnership between Amazon and Rivian, which have worked together on the EDV electric truck for many years. For several years, the Rivian truck was exclusive to Amazon. But after this exclusivity ended, Rivian said The truck will be sold to any interested commercial fleet owner.
“Micromobility solutions like our pedal-assisted e-four-wheeler cargo vehicles allow us to quickly deliver to customers in congested urban cities, while helping to reduce traffic and noise,” Emily Barber, Amazon’s global fleet manager, said in a statement. “Similar to our partnership with Rivian EDV, working with ALSO provides an opportunity to continue to innovate in this area, building on our delivery logistics expertise, combined with advanced technology, safety and performance features.”
