Amazon has launched a new AI-powered feature for Fire TV that lets you jump to specific moments from the movie through scene descriptions Alexa Plus. The feature was previously announced during Amazon hardware event in Septemberworks with Prime Video and relies on the X-Ray feature that provides information about the content you are watching.
“At Fire TV, our number one mission is to get you what you want to watch — fast,” Amazon says in its announcement. “Simply describe a movie scene as you would to a friend, and Alexa Plus will jump right to that specific moment—no need to search further.”
Alexa Plus “works with thousands of Prime Video movies by understanding scene descriptions, character names, and famous quotes,” according to Amazon. Users can skip to a scene by providing details about characters, actors, locations, and more, such as asking to find a “card scene in Love indeed“,” or “Where Yeshua asks: ‘Shall we play a game?'” in War games.
This feature is designed to make it easier and faster to locate and watch scenes compared to manually fast-forwarding through movies, giving Fire TV users fewer reasons to search for the same content on other platforms like YouTube. Amazon says the feature uses a variety of AI models, including Amazon Nova and Anthropic Claude, and can recognize movies without including the title in the descriptions.
The Fire TV feature is currently limited to scenes indexed in select movies purchased or rented from Prime Video, or available for streaming via a Prime membership subscription. Amazon says the feature will soon be expanded to include more scenes and TV shows.
