Under the hood, the system features high-end specs, including an Intel Core Ultra 9 288V CPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD for storage, not to mention Graphics Thanks to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 mobile GPU. This is one of the most productive laptops I’ve tested yet, and performance was solid, though surprisingly and disappointingly it didn’t even come close to breaking the record on any benchmark I threw at it (including productivity and AI tasks).
The results were generally in line with high-end business or creativity-focused laptops, but with the added bonus of being able to handle video games. However, even the graphics didn’t overly impress me: frame rates weren’t as impressive as I would have liked, considering the RTX 5070 GPU. Acer Predator Helios Neo 16S AI I recently tested showing almost twice the gaming performance of a Triton, with a low-end graphics card.
However, it is fun to use. The keyboard is responsive, and I enjoyed working with the touchpad once I turned up the tactile response level to maximum, which makes tapping and clicking much easier. The OLED screen is incredibly bright—near the brightest screen in the field—and the six-speaker sound system can really deliver. At close range, the volume was painfully loud once I pushed it above 30 percent.

On the downside, the 6 hours and 50 minutes of battery life (YouTube playback at full brightness) is likely marginal for creators, though you’ll be able to extend that with careful power management tactics (which will also help dampen the loud fan sound somewhat). The unit is also shockingly slow to boot.
The biggest problem might be a strange issue I encountered where the laptop – which was idle after completing some benchmarks – became hot. Then hotter and hotter and hotter. Eventually, the unit became so hot to the touch that I measured it with a laser thermometer. The underside of the laptop reached a scorching 144 degrees before I finally shut everything down. This isn’t just hot enough to burn you; It’s hot enough to cause Third degree Burns. Acer had no explanation for this issue, but, like me, was happy that the problem did not return during the remainder of the test after a reboot.
At $2,500, Acer is asking a lot for a machine that works well but isn’t so good that it’s perfect. Including discrete graphics requires a price hike – at least partially – but the whole package still feels like it’s priced at a very high premium. Excellent Razer Blade 14for example, may not be as flashy as the Triton, but it can deliver the same if not better performance. You will have money left over for a nice purchase Wacom tablet Also, if that’s what you’re looking for.
