A tiny device unveiled at CES instantly tells you if there’s gluten in your food (no, really).


If you have a food allergy or gluten allergy, you know how difficult it can be to trust the food you eat — especially when out at a restaurant or traveling. Allergy alert It aims to provide a solution.

Currently under development and showing in Consumer Electronics Show 2026The pocket-sized tester looks simple enough to use: take a sample of your food, place it inside the single-use bag, insert it into the mini tester and press a button to receive your allergy results in just a few minutes.

My colleague David Watsky was on the floor to chat with brand representatives. Currently, the device is designed to detect gluten and dairy only; However, there are plans to expand allergen detection capabilities in future iterations.

The devices aren’t available for purchase yet, but a brand representative says they’re already being used in trial by professional chefs to help detect food allergens in food before it leaves the kitchen.
