Some of that weight is thanks to the bike’s battery, which adds another 6.4 pounds to the overall total. It’s a pack that, thanks to an easily accessible external port, you can easily charge without removing it from the bike. However, if you prefer to charge indoors, the battery can be easily removed from its location under the bike’s down tube. While most of this battery is used to power the bike, some of it provides power for the bike’s bright 90-lumen headlights, brake lights, and side signals.
The battery took just under seven hours to fully charge, which Lectric claims can provide up to 60 miles of range. Of course, those 60 miles are in ideal conditions, likely with a much lighter rider, and on completely flat roads. Thanks to my size, the hills surrounding my city, and because I enjoy thumb throttle so much, I almost never get that kind of range on a full charge. But I was able to get a little over 30 miles from a full battery while switching between different power settings and opening the throttle along the way. For commuting purposes or just walking around, I found the battery life to be more than adequate.
For all that, it still needed to stop, and the bike’s massive 180mm and 2.3mm rotors paired with hydraulic brakes effectively brought a safe and sensible stop to a bike weighing over 300 pounds. During testing, I always felt in control of my speed, even at the back of a hill. The bike also has an SR Suntour
Often times, cruisers can feel more like an ocean liner than a speedboat. However, despite the bike’s upright riding position and overall heft — both of which can easily make a bike feel heavy or just plain boring — the XPress2 has an agility that cruisers often miss. That’s due in large part to its 27.5-inch wheels and thick 2.1-inch tires, which find the sweet spot between thick enough to handle rough roads and narrow enough to feel like you can really rip. The tires are also puncture-resistant, pre-filled with Slime tire sealant, which prevents flats by filling small holes without the rider’s knowledge. These details, combined with the relatively compact wheelbase, allowed me to navigate the car and student traffic in my small college town with ease and aplomb.

After a week of riding, I found only two issues with the XPress2.
