What to watch on Apple TV in July 2026: New comedy Pickleball, Anya Taylor-Joy in ‘Lucky’ and more

Trying is one of those shows that, on the one hand, has a loyal fan base (it lasted five seasons, so of course), and on the other hand, many others have never heard of it. The series revolves around Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall), a couple who are unable to have children, so they decide to adopt a child. (Eventually, they adopted a pair of siblings, Princess and Tyler.)

The series returns for its fifth season, and picks up where the last season left off, with Kat (Charlotte Riley), Princess and Tyler’s biological mother, showing up at their home and bringing chaos with her. Scarlett Rayner, Cooper Turner, Sian Brooke and Darren Boyd all return this season. The first episode premieres on Wednesday, July 8, with new episodes uploaded every Wednesday.
