Temptation with Portable power stations is to become big. The more power the better, right? Well, the thing you should remember is that you should also carry these things if you are camping or hitting the road. That’s what I like about the Explorer 300 – at 292 watt-hours, it has enough power to power a fair number of devices, but it only weighs 7.5 pounds and is easy to carry.
The maximum power draw is 300W, so you’ll want to make sure whatever you’re looking at doesn’t need more (it can handle a 600W boost), but in my experience, that’s plenty for electronics and most small kitchen appliances (not electric kettles).
The Explorer 300 can charge from a wall outlet, a USB-C charger, or if you want to be away from the grid, Jackery SolarSaga 40W Solar Panel, on sale for $99 ($30 off). A USB-C charge will take about three hours; Solar will be more like five on a nice sunny day.
We’ve found Jackery equipment to be reliable and durable, and you can expect to get at least a decade out of this battery. Go any larger than this and portability becomes debatable, but there are some additional options below. The warranty on this device is three years, but you can extend it to five years after that Register with Jackery.
We’ve discovered some other Jackery deals worth considering, although please note that we haven’t tested each of these products, such as the Explorer 2000 Plus – however, the brand’s reputation is strong, and we’ve never tested a Jackery product that we’ve had serious issues with.
