It seems that It’s the week for cheap electric vehicles. Immediately after the production model of Slate electric truck A new European contender in electric mobility, with an increase in range, has been revealed today emerging from stealth mode and planning to bring its stylish and affordable cars to the market.
Amble’s founders worked in Audi and FordHe started Cowboys ebikes, and co-founded Forpeople, the creative agency that works for, among others, New EVs, Arcteryxand Herman Miller. In fact, Amble’s design lead, Julian Honig, worked on the infamously scrapped work Apple carwhich goes some way to explaining how this car, the $25,000 Amble One, looks like it came straight out of Cupertino, even though it comes from Lisbon, Portugal.
The Amble One is a street-legal electric car, designed for the kind of places where a regular car would feel out of place. Coastal lanes, private estates and those dusty paths between luxury hotel villas and the sea. Think of it as if Apple decided to design a golf cart, and then took the project further.

The company is calling the One a new category of lightweight electric vehicles for short-range commuting, and the specs show a degree of seriousness: a range of more than 60 miles, a top speed of 40 mph, a five-hour charge from any standard household socket, and a weight of less than 450 kilograms (992 pounds).
This last number matters more than it seems. To qualify as L7e vehicle In Europe (the category that allows it to be driven on public roads without being treated as a car), the weight of the Amble One must remain less than 450 kilograms. “This is really difficult,” says Adrian Rose, CEO and co-founder. “If you take a car and downsize it, it won’t work.” The Amble One’s open, doorless design isn’t just an aesthetic choice that mimics competitors like Electric mochiseemingly. It’s part of what helps make your weight goal achievable.
The founding team has a lineage. Rose co-founded Cowboy, one of the most iconic companies Electric bike Trademarks. Honig spent years at Audi, where he worked on the RSQ, A4, R8 and Q3, and then joined the design team at Apple, where he worked on Apple watch, Vision Proand the Apple Project Titan car program. Michael Tropper co-founded Forpeople, a 120-person creative agency whose clients include InterContinental Hotels. Keeping with the tourism theme, the restoration was carried out by José Antonio Uva, who serves as the president of Ampel Sao Lourenço do Barocala 1,927-acre luxury Alentejo estate in Portugal that has become one of Europe’s most popular country resorts.
