Your refrigerator is probably one of the most important appliances in your home because it keeps perishable foods fresh. If the power goes out, replacing all the spoiled food can be expensive. Jackery’s new FridgeGuard joins a growing lineup of Portable power stations Specially designed to keep your large home appliances running. We recently saw a similar model – The power of the refrigerator from Blueti –And Biolite and PatriotPower both have their own iterations of this concept.
The Jackery FridgeGuard is generally very similar to those devices. The ultra-slim portable power station is only 2.6 inches thick, allowing it to fit in tight corners or place on top of your refrigerator. Jackery sent one over last week, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the device fits comfortably next to—or even on top of—the single-door refrigerator in my somewhat cramped kitchen.
FridgeGuard has a display that shows you battery capacity and usage.
The entire unit weighs 23 pounds and has a sleek silver look that resembles the stainless steel appliances in my kitchen more than the traditional orange and black Jacquery colors. In terms of specifications, Jakiri says the FridgeGuard can keep the refrigerator running for up to 15 hours off-grid and includes a 10ms UPS switching. I haven’t had a chance to simulate a power outage or experience a power outage yet, but I’ll look to verify these claims during testing. You can also add an expansion battery to extend playtime up to 30 hours.
FridgeGuard can fit into tight spaces.
The FridgeGuard also offers 1,600 watts of power designed to handle refrigerator compressors. It also has built-in protection against voltage surges, lightning and grid instability, and includes a bypass mode that turns on the refrigerator immediately after the power station battery reaches a full charge. The LiFePO4 battery retains 70% of its capacity after 6,000 cycles, or 16 years of average daily use. It comes with various UL certifications (UL1778, UL1741, and UL1973) and has a five-year warranty as well.
The FridgeGuard is in the kitchen, powering coffee makers and other appliances.
Jakiri says the FridgeGuard is compatible with most modern refrigerators, but its 1,024 watt-hour capacity also makes it useful for powering CPAP machines, aquarium pumps, and electronics in home offices and living rooms.
the Fridge Guard It will be available starting June 22 exclusively through Costco online and in select retail stores. It will cost Costco members $560, which is 20% off the retail price of $700.
