The new Verizon Shine loyalty program seeks to reward long-time subscribers

Verizon Offering a new loyalty program to prevent subscribers from jumping to another carrier. Verizon Shine — say it loud to start a slow morning — features weekly discounts from partner businesses, a new Verizon Dollars credit program and chances to win big-ticket items like breakfast with soccer legend David Beckham at the World Cup Finals.

Verizon Shine Available now to all Verizon postpaid subscribers Unlimited plans. Customers can sign up for the program in the My Verizon app on their phone Phones.

Mondays will bring daily drops of offers and products, such as free coffee from Starbucks and 2026 FIFA World Cup merchandise. Verizon says other examples of drops could include tickets to concerts and sporting events, food vouchers and gift cards. This sounds strikingly similar to the weekly T-Mobile Tuesday giveaways that Verizon’s rival carrier used to win subscribers, especially in its early years.

“What we’re looking to do is break some of the norms that exist in the industry overall and put customers first,” said Nancy Clark, Verizon’s chief product and revenue officer.

One such standard is to charge activation and upgrade fees when lines are added or upgraded. For people on a loyalty plan, Verizon will waive these changes, including for connected device plans. The company currently charges $40 for activation.

Verizon dollar

The loyalty program also offers Verizon Dollars, which are accumulated each month at a rate of 3% of your bill (not including taxes and fees). Subscribers will have access to Verizon Dollars starting in July.

These loyalty dollars can be used to purchase items from partners like Sephora, Roblox, Hilton, Marriott, and Starbucks. The program will launch with approximately 40 partners and will expand in the future, Clark said.

You can’t use Verizon Dollars to reduce your bill, but you can use them to buy accessories through Verizon, like phone cases, or put them into a new phone or other device. Dollars can be held for 12 months.

Although Verizon operates physical retail stores, the benefits of Verizon Shine won’t include locating your nearest location to check out merchandise. If you redeem a physical item, it will be sent to you.

Clark also noted that Verizon Dollars are not necessarily a one-to-one transfer. For example, $1 from Verizon can get up to five times its value from a partner like a hotel.

Breakfast like (and with) Beckham

In addition to the daily rewards, every Monday will offer a chance to win bigger experiences. For example, on June 22, some lucky Verizon customers will be able to have breakfast with David Beckham (soccer player and Verizon ambassador) as part of a three-day trip to watch the World Cup Final on July 19.

Other big-ticket events include a New York City food tour with chef Andrew Zimmern, a meet-and-greet with musician Young Miko, a holiday dance lesson with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall, and trips to see NFL games — the other soccer ball — in France and Australia.
