Cash App has created a magic wand for contactless payments

The convenience of contactless payments can seem truly magical, but Cash App is really leaning into that with its latest extension. Mobile payment service launches Cash App Wand: an NFC-enabled, iridescent, star-covered wand that allows users to make payments on the go without pulling out their phone or card.

The Cash App alternative differs in that it is more compact and uses an integrated NFC tag that pairs with your active Cash App Card. It comes with a keychain that you can attach to your belt or bag (provided you’re not worried about it getting snatched, though of course that’s not the case) He looks such as a card). The accessory is designed to appeal to teens, with Cash App reporting that 1 in 5 teens in the U.S. already use their Cash App Card.

The Wand is available to eligible customers ages 13 and up starting today for $25 through Cash App “while supplies last.” It works anywhere Visa Tap to Pay is accepted and has built-in security features that allow you to lock or unlock it within the app, along with real-time transaction alerts and 24/7 fraud monitoring support.

If you’re not a fan of wands, don’t worry — this is the first of many planned Cash App tags, and the company says it plans to drop limited runs of the new tag designs “in the coming weeks,” before making them generally available later this summer.
