Fake call detection works by performing a real-time scan of both phones to gauge whether the caller is the person being claimed or not. When your actual mother calls, for example, her verified device will send a private, end-to-end encrypted confirmation signal via RCS. But when a scammer impersonates your mother — likely using an impersonator online dialer and AI-powered voice clone — their device won’t have that confirmation signal. Your phone will then check your mother’s phone to make sure she didn’t make the call. You will get an alert and a prompt to end the call.
