Apple will reportedly add a bill splitting feature to iOS 27


iPhone users may soon find it easier to split the restaurant bill when dining out with a group of friends.

Apple is preparing a new feature in iOS 27 that will allow users to take a photo of a receipt, assign items on the receipt to different people and create payment requests, according to Apple. The new feature will be linked to the peer-to-peer Apple Cash feature in the Wallet app, which allows users to send, receive and request money directly through their iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch without a third-party app.

The feature is expected to be announced early next week at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, Gorman wrote on Monday.

Since its introduction as Apple Passbook in 2021, Apple Wallet has slowly become one of the hottest apps on the iPhone. Users can store debit and credit cards, gift cards, digital car keys, boarding passes, insurance cards, concert and museum tickets, and membership cards in the app. In some states, you can even Add your driver’s licenseOr state-issued ID card or passport to the application.

Another new feature expected to be part of Apple’s next operating system is a new way to create passes in Apple Wallet. The feature, which works with tickets and passes that contain scannable QR codes, allows customers to import the code to create a personalized pass, according to Bloomberg report in May.

iOS 27 is expected to be previewed next week at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, and will likely be released in September when the latest iPhone, the iPhone 18, debuts.

Apple representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
