If you’ve purchased Lionsgate movies or redeemed codes for them, we have some good news for you: their extensive library is being added to your digital movie vault, Movies anywhere. This means Lionsgate titles will now sync across any participating digital retailers you have linked to your Movies Anywhere account.
Lionsgate says a select selection of Lionsgate films will be eligible for Movies Anywhere starting in June, with 225 of the studio’s most popular films available on the service, which is also a retailer. Going forward, approximately 100 additional films will be added monthly throughout 2026 and early 2027. Delivery timeMovies Anywhere has 14.5 million users and its library will expand to nearly 10,000 digital movies with the addition of Lionsgate.

I already see Lionsgate titles like John Wick, Knives Out, La La Land, Rambo, and The Hunger Games listed with the Movies Anywhere badge on Fandango at homebut none have appeared in the Movies Anywhere catalog yet. Participating digital retailers in Movies Anywhere include Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Fandango at Home, Google Play/YouTube, Xfinity, Verizon Fios TV and DirectTV.
For those who purchase digital movies or redeem codes for digital versions of titles from physical media, Lionsgate’s move to Movies Anywhere is a big deal (Movies Anywhere is owned by The Walt Disney Company, and Disney initially developed a rights-syncing platform called KeyChest in 2009).

I and many other consumers find it annoying to buy a movie from a digital retailer, like Fandango at Home, but not have it available for viewing on another platform I use, like Apple TV or Google Play. Ideally, if you purchase a title, you should be able to store it in one central digital vault and have global access to it. (Technically, when you buy a digital movie, you’re buying a license to stream it as many times as you want, even though you don’t actually own the title.)
Prior to this announcement, Movies Anywhere supported most films from The Walt Disney Studios (including Disney, Pixar, Twentieth Century Studios, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm), Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures (including DreamWorks and Illumination Entertainment), and Warner Bros. Entertainment. Entertainment. No new major studios have been added since 2017.
There was some hope when Amazon bought MGM in 2022MGM will join Movies Anywhere because Prime Video was a participating retailer. That hasn’t happened yet, but hopefully the addition of Lionsgate will encourage the rest of the holdouts, which also include Paramount, A24, and Crimerion, to join.
Right now, there are only movies, not TV shows, on the Movies Anywhere platform – and there’s no TV anywhere. So any TV series you purchase are not eligible for Movies Anywhere and will not sync across retailers.
