What can they do that they don’t do?
I mean, I think it’s a ridiculous idea to activate and drop a lot of Starlink stations on Iran. Well, that’ll be fun. I would support a contract, you know, a contract with the U.S. government to do that, because it would cost less than two of these missiles. We own the airspace at this point. As you know, they have no air defenses. I believe that every cell phone and every smartphone produced after 2020 or 2021 has the ability to connect to the Internet via satellite.
Flipping requires switches. To do that, we need a congressional resolution or executive order, and perhaps some assurances to cell phone providers that if you provide cellular access to Iran, we will not penalize you. We will not enforce this.
Do you have any educated guess or educated hypothesis as to why these very simple switches are not flipped?
I don’t think it’s on people’s radar screens…
That you should link a country to how many people? Ninety-three million people coming back online?
First, I think it’s not necessarily on their radar screens. Secondly, it’s not a priority because I think if the right people knew about it, they would do it today.
Well, hopefully someone is listening. I mean it seems so obvious.
It’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? And it’s one of those things where we put people on the moon, right? We have discovered many more complex challenges.
This is a country with a population of 93 million people. The penetration rate of smartphones is incredibly high. People use these things, right? It’s kind of an obvious puzzle piece that hasn’t been put into place yet.
What are we all missing in all the talk about the Strait and gas prices? What are we missing about these 93 million people?
None of us are immune to rising costs and how they impact our lives.
naturally.
But it’s very minor – I don’t want to say “inconvenience,” because I know it’s more than that – but it’s minor compared to the matters of life and death and freedom that these people face every day. I have many examples of Iranians coming forward and saying: “Okay, look, we want to connect with the outside world. We want to be able to study at your universities. We want to be able to learn from your institutions. We want you to come and invest in our country.”
In fact, the system attracts foreign investment, and you know, I would say, “Foreign company, don’t send your employees over there until they give some guarantee that they’re not going to take people hostage,” because they do that all the time.
So the situation is very complicated because there is no good guy in this story. The good man is the people of Iran. The United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Israel. None of these three entities have the interests of the Iranian people on their agenda. I challenge you to prove to me otherwise.
