Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 test will allow you to do just that Change the position of the taskbar Change the size of the Start menu. Update is Rolling to Windows 11 Insiders In the demo channel, it allows you to place the taskbar at the bottom, top, left, or right side of the screen.
Microsoft first Animated taskbar teased in March As part of the rebuilding efforts Trust between users. You can adjust the alignment of icons within the taskbar, as well as open the Start menu tray from wherever you put it. Windows 11 Insiders have access to a shorter taskbar as well, which could be useful for devices with smaller screens. There is also an option to choose from a “small” or “large” Start menu.
The Start menu layout will soon get easier to adjust too, with new toggles that will let you show or hide the Pinned, Recommended, and All sections. The company is also renaming the “Recommended” section to “Recent” to “better reflect what the section primarily displays, including recently installed apps and recently used files.” You can now hide your name and profile picture from the Start menu, too, if you’re sharing your screen or giving a presentation.
These features will be rolled out in the “coming weeks” on the beta channel. “We talked about earning trust through consistent, visible progress,” Microsoft design director Diego Baca says in the blog post. “Start and the taskbar are where trust is tested more than ever, every time you sit down at your computer.”
