AMD is bringing FSR 4.1 upscaling technology to older graphics cards. in Advertisement for XJack Huynh, head of AMD’s computing and graphics division, says FSR 4.1 will be released on RDNA 3 GPUs in July, followed by the launch of RDNA 2 chips in early 2027.
An update this summer will allow owners of Radeon RX 7000 series chipsets to access AMD’s cross-upgrade technology More than 300 games supportedincluded Cyberpunk 2077, Battlefield 6and Shadows of Assassin’s Creed. A broader expansion of FSR 4.1 next year will allow the technology to expand to more RDNA 2-powered devices, such as the Steam Deck.
AMD Launched FSR 4.1 update For Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards in March. The update relies on AI-powered upscaling technology, which is supposed to boost performance, while delivering sharper images and smoother gameplay.
Since the RDNA 3 chips don’t come with the hardware required to run FSR 4.1, Huynh says AMD had to “carefully fine-tune, optimize and validate the model” to get it to run on older GPUs. “We tested hundreds of PC configurations in hundreds of games to make sure the visuals were sharp and everything worked out of the box,” says Huynh.
