Are you the best? word A player you know? Solve this daily puzzle in a few attempts every day without missing out? Consider enlisting two well-read friends and teaming up to compete on a new Wordle TV game show coming to NBC in 2027.
NBC has signed on for a televised game show based on a New York Times pun, in which players must solve a five-letter puzzle in six attempts. The competition will be hosted by the Today Show’s Savannah Guthrie, who was described in a press release as “an avid word gamer.”
Late-night host Jimmy Fallon will serve as executive producer of the show through his production company, Electric Hot Dog. They will partner with The New York Times and Universal Television Alternative Studio to develop the game show.
The Times said in a statement that the TV show will challenge players to solve five-letter word puzzles, and that players will “cooperate in teams and compete head-to-head.” The release did not reveal the exact amount players could win, but the Times version described it as an “amazing cash prize.”
Production will begin later in 2026, and the series is scheduled to premiere on NBC in 2027.
If you want to experience the offer, you can visit wordle.castingcrane.com. This site says the offer features teams of three, and interested players need to choose their team and submit a recent photo of themselves.
Players must be 21 years or older and able to travel to Europe to register. (Yes, Europe is a huge continent, but the app doesn’t narrow it down any further.) We recommend that you upload a video in which you talk about your strategies and experience playing Wordle, as well as a screenshot of your Wordle stats.
Wordle is a very solo game, so I don’t see why you would need a team of three. Will individual players take turns facing off against one opponent from the other team? A representative for the Times pointed to a line in the press release that said the game would focus on “solving together, sharing victories, discussing strategies, and cheering each other on.” This seems to mean that players will group into teams to make their guesses.
I’m not sure watching someone solve a Wordle puzzle would generate television interest, but the Wordle name alone might attract some viewers. We’ll see in 2027.
