According to my country Dog DNA test resultsIt is at least partially hypoallergenic. According to American Kennel ClubThere is no such thing as a 100% hypoallergenic dog. I lean towards the latter.
I say this because, although I don’t see clumps of hair falling out of his fur at any point, I do find build-ups of dander in the corners and notice dust returning to surfaces shortly after brushing. I’ve come to the conclusion that this may be from my pup Walter, or it may simply be because my house is old.
Whatever the reason, I decided to try to address the problem. I started by removing wet dust from all the flat surfaces in my house and plugged it in Air purifierspecifically one that promises to target pet hair and dander to see if it can make any difference.
Here’s what I discovered.
Pet dander can contribute significantly to the amount of dust spread around and around your home Air purification test Some models have been shown to clean the air better than others.
the Orancy Mode Plus MD02 air purifierFor example, it excels at removing coarse particles, which it does CNET’s Top Pick for Treating Pet Hair and Dust.
but FP10 dreama recently released HEPA-equipped air purifier with some weird features, promises something else, too: a self-cleaning system designed to reduce maintenance. I had to try it myself.
The FP10 has four main modes (AI/auto, pet, sleep, and custom) and includes a rotating filter cleaning attachment, a thin component that collects excess hair and dust from the primary filter to help keep it cleaner longer.
According to Dreame, the air purifier has a 99.5% hair collection rate and a 99.9% odor removal rate.
The rotating brush rotates occasionally to clean the device’s filter.
Once this chamber is full, you will have to empty it yourself, so it is not a 100% self-cleaning air purifier. However, Dreame says the filter can last up to two years, and that’s likely because the rotating brush helps reduce filter buildup by taking care of some cleaning.

If we’re moving away from pure aesthetics, this is one of my favorite air purifiers on the market. Its sleek design fits into most homes, and my guests rarely realize it’s an air purifier when they walk into the living room, despite its large size.
I mainly use the Dreame app to control the buttons on the device So It’s small and somewhat hard to see, so it’s easier to use the app.
If you have young children at home, the app has a child lock option that renders these buttons useless if necessary.
There are several features I liked, including the automatic mode, which adjusts the fan speed based on indoor air quality, and the real-time information you can collect from the app.
When I painted a wall, my TVOC levels (total volatile organic compounds, released by paints, cleaning supplies, and more) rose immediately, and then rose again when I plugged in an air freshener. I loved having that data, and the air purifier was adjusted as needed to purify the air. In addition to TVOCs, the air purifier also tracks particulate matter (PM2.5), temperature and humidity in the room it is placed in and outdoors, and the air quality index for your city.
I noticed that the particle levels would go up a bit when I opened the window.
However, there are some other features that seem less practical, including the optional pet weight platform that comes with the air purifier. It attaches to the top of your air purifier, but if you don’t want to use it, you can keep the original top of the air purifier.
Maybe I would feel differently if I had a cat, but my dog hated the weight platform and refused to sit. It also displayed 1 pound before putting anything on it, so I’m not sure the measurement is accurate either. It’s a weird feature, and I don’t see myself using it regularly.
My dog got extra treats after this photo.
However, when I used the air purifier consistently, especially at high speed, I noticed less dust buildup in my living room. I no longer wipe down my coffee and side tables every day, but it’s worth noting that at high speeds, the sound is definitely noticeable and resembles that of a fan.
According to Dreame, the maximum decibel (weighted dB) is 62. According to Dreame American Speech-Language-Hearing Association60 decibels is similar to the noise of a dishwasher or dryer.
The Dreame AP10 is an air purifier aimed at pet owners, but it has a different design and features than the FP10. Although I haven’t tested this device in my home, we put it through our extensive lab tests to see how it performs.
At high speed, the AP10 removed fine particles in 1 minute and removed coarse particles in 2 minutes and 10 seconds. In comparison, CNET’s top pick for the best air purifier is Blueair Blue Pure 311i MaxRemove fine particles in 49 seconds and coarse particles in just 45 seconds.
That’s not to say the AP10 didn’t get the job done, but it took a little longer to do so than some of the larger competitors. For most families, this difference may not be noticeable.

| Media | Max noise | Filter layers | Voice control | Filter cleaner | price | |
| Dream AP10 | Car, Pet, Turbo, Sleep | 66 dB(A) | 3 | Yes | no | $350 |
| FP10 dream | AI/Auto, Pet, Sleep, Custom | 62 dB(A) | 4 | no | Yes | $425 |
In my opinion, most pet owners could benefit from an air purifier, especially one that can help reduce fur, dander, and general pet odors.
Although the FP10 isn’t cheap at $425, it’s still much cheaper than CNET’s current pick for the best pet dander and dust air purifier, Orancy Mode Plus MD02 air purifier (currently unavailable), which is $850.
For me, I’ll stick with FP10. I like the design, features and overall performance, even if my pup wants nothing to do with the weight station.
