The new Boox e-reader remote is a small two-button keyboard

Bucs has She announced her replacement to kobo remote Which provides more functionality than just turning the page while reading on tablets and e-readers. Tappy can also be used to scroll vertical content in browsers or social media apps and skip to the next or previous track when listening to music or audiobooks. It is now available through Box online store and Amazon At $25.99, it’s a little cheaper than the Kobo, but Boox says the Tappy will work with more than just its own hardware.

While the Kobo’s remote is reminiscent of a gaming controller like the Wiimote, the Tappy looks more like an old typewriter that’s been shortened to just two keys. One key moves forward through your content, while the other goes back. Alternate keycaps can be swapped out to customize Tappy’s appearance, but in addition to the X and O, they’re limited to split-heart icons and a steaming cup of coffee. Cute, but descriptively questionable.

There’s a 95 mAh rechargeable battery inside the Tappy that should last for weeks if you’re not too happy with the tapping, and it also has a wireless Bluetooth range of about 33 feet. This is a bit of a stretch just to read, but since Boox actively encourages you to pair the Tappy with other devices like your smartphone or laptop, it can double as a basic media remote for your sound system with button customizations, or as an incredibly limited gamepad.
