William Golding’s Lord of the Flies novel has already been adapted for the screen several times, and now there’s a new iteration. The four-part limited series will premiere on Netflix on May 4.
The new series, developed for television by Jack Thorne, revolves around a group of young schoolchildren stranded on a deserted island and trying to govern themselves. Thorne also co-created Adolescence, another themed story of young people confronting their worst impulses, anger and violent tendencies. This new interpretation of the material may seem more relevant now than it did when the book came out in 1954. The show features a cast of primarily unknown actors, with Rory Kinnear and Daniel Mays also appearing.
