In the first season of the show, fans witnessed teenager Denji being transformed into Chainsaw Man and recruited into the Department of Public Safety, a government group that hunts down demons and protects society. There’s a lot of gore and violent conflict in the series, but somehow, there’s also a tenderness that comes through in Denji through his dynamic with his demon friend Pochita. Viewers will Kind of See more of Denji’s sweet side in the movie when he meets Reze, a girl who expresses romantic interest in him. But don’t expect a smooth, gore-free story, okay?

The film comes from MAPPA Studios and will premiere on Crunchyroll in Thursday. You can also stream the first season of the show on Crunchyroll or Hulu.
