Duolingoone of Best language learning apps on CNEToffering free advanced educational content that may get you ready to take on a new job or go to college in another language. The app offers advanced lessons for nine of its most popular languages, including English, Chinese, and Spanish, on the free tier of its iOS and Android apps. That’s right, these lessons are available at no additional cost.
“What we’ve built is an expert-designed curriculum that supports learners from their first word with advanced language content relevant to getting a job, going to college, or navigating life in a new country, and it’s free,” Bozena Bajak, head of science learning at Duolingo, said in a press release.
Spanish, Italian, and Korean are some of the languages with advanced lessons.
These advanced lessons aim to help learners communicate at an intermediate level, achieving the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages at B2 level. According to CEFRA person at this level is considered an independent user, ranking just below a skilled user. At this level, the CEFR says a person can “understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field.”
Your progress toward this level in the Duolingo app is measured by your Duolingo Score. This score reflects your proficiency in the language, and a score of 129 is equivalent to the CEFR B2 level.
You can see your Duolingo score in the top-left corner of the app’s home screen. You can then learn more about your score by clicking on it in the upper left corner and then clicking on it More about the result.
