It came in just a few pieces (seat, handlebars, front wheel, and pedals), which I had already assembled and modified on my analog bikes. I’m still wrangling a couple of friends for help, which has proven helpful because it’s a bit impractical to wrestle the heavy frame into place with everything aligned.
Unlike other bikes in this line, the Ranger S ($1,099)You don’t need the HeyBike app to use Ranger Pro. The app lets you change bike settings, update firmware, and track rides, but it’s not necessary to activate the bike. It charged 100 percent in just three hours out of the box, and has since taken about seven hours to fully charge in an AC outlet after the battery died, which is on par with my full-sized one. I tested this bike during a chaotic spring here in Montana, which means muddy bike paths, drizzle, sleet, and lots of puddles. Unlike my full-size e-bike, the Ranger Pro has a fully sealed battery and has an IP65 waterproof rating (which means it can withstand direct hits from spilled water but is not submersible). I was never nervous about riding it into town to run errands in the rain.
Besides progressive access and cargo carrying, this bike’s main access feature is its foldable design, which reduces its size to half its size. The two main resting points are at the base of the handlebars and the center base of the frame. Pull the latches to disengage, attach the frame and handlebars, and the bike can be placed in the corner of the garage or placed in the back seat of the car. It weighs 65 pounds which is an unwieldy load, but the ease of storage is excellent.
I was somewhat nervous riding at 20 mph in traffic, knowing that the two latches were the only barriers between the bike in one piece and the frame literally folded in half, but everything remained secure. I’ve squeezed this bike through some of the ugliest potholes Montana has to offer, and nothing has shaken or popped open.

The bike has a huge load limit of 440 lbs (you’ll have to purchase a… Baskets ($89) and Panniers ($59) Separately), but I had good luck putting my gym bag, yoga mat, and grocery cart on the back rack. I’m used to full-size bikes with longer frames, so I wasn’t sure how to do this Charging foldable electric bike I’ll deal with it, but it was better than my full-size upright e-bike.
