San Francisco police have arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of throwing a Molotov cocktail into the Rossin Hill home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman early Friday morning. San Francisco standard Reports. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras shortly before 7 a.m. ET. Later that morning, a person matching the suspect’s description was seen making threats outside OpenAI’s Mission Bay offices, where he was arrested around 9 a.m. ET.
OpenAI spokesperson Jamie Radice confirmed the incident in a statement to Edge“Fortunately, no one was hurt,” he said. “We greatly appreciate how quickly SFPD responded and the support the city is providing to help keep our employees safe. This individual is in custody, and we are assisting law enforcement with their investigation.”
The San Francisco Police Department was involved Share on X Friday about what appeared to be the same incident, noting that the suspect was “threatening to burn down the building” outside a business in the “1400 block of Third Street.” OpenAI is headquartered at 1455 3rd Street. According to the post, the investigation is ongoing and “charges remain pending at this time.” SFPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
