Brian Barrett: This week we discuss why the dispute between OpenAI and Elon Musk is heating up in the courts once again. And speaking of Musk, we’ll go through some key takeaways from SpaceX’s recent confidential IPO filing. Then we’ll dive into growing concerns about how some agencies in the current administration handle voter data. Finally, let’s get away from all that and go into outer space and talk about why the launch of Artemis II is such a big deal for everyone watching.
Leah Weiger: Before we dive into our lineup this week, we need to briefly talk about what’s happened between the United States and Iran in recent days.
(archive audio): President Trump is threatening Iran again, writing online this morning: “An entire civilization will die tonight and never be brought back again.”
(archive audio): Moments ago, President Trump once again repeated his threat to destroy Iran if a deal is not reached before his deadline of 8:00 PM ET tonight.
(archive audio): Breaking news from the White House about the US President’s approval of a two-week ceasefire.
Leah Weiger: The whole situation was very strange. I think that’s the way world politics is going these days. I’m very curious about your thoughts.
Brian Barrett: Well, yes, talk about what happened or more specifically what did not happen this week, which is a possible World War III. It seemed like we were on the verge of it, and I don’t think that’s… It’s interesting, chances were good that Trump was bluffing, right? And because he did this over and over again, he said, “This is the deadline,” and then he postponed it. But what he’s bluffing about has become really worrying and it’s just a bluff until it’s not. you know what i mean? I think the threat of annihilating an entire civilization is terrifying stuff, even if it’s a menace and a menace. Terrifying gossip.
