Meta unveils a new model of artificial intelligence developed by new and expensive superintelligence laboratories


Meta unveiled its latest AI model on Wednesday, its first since assembling an expensive team to help the company better compete with its AI rivals.

The new model is known as Moses Sparkwas created by Meta Superintelligence Labs, a team of commissioned AI leaders and developers assembled last year from other AI companies and led by Alexander Wang, co-founder and CEO of Scale AI. Wang joined the Meta AI team after Meta agreed to invest $14.3 billion in Scale AI.

The model, known internally as Avocado, now powers the Meta AI app and Meta AI website and will soon power the Meta apps WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and AI Glasses. Meta described the new model as “an early data point in our trajectory,” adding that he has larger models in development.

“This prototype is small and fast to design, but capable enough to solve complex questions in science, mathematics, and health,” Meta said in its announcement. “It’s a strong foundation, and the next generation is already in development.”
