As the school year winds down, Adobe’s latest AI tool can help students prepare for final exams. Company on Tuesday foot Acrobat Student Spaces, a new learning space for college students to get personalized study help.
Student Spaces are located within Adobe Acrobat. All you have to do is upload your course materials, assuming you have the rights to them (don’t upload your entire textbook). Adobe’s AI will create personalized study materials. You can create study guides, flashcards, quizzes, podcasts, video overviews, presentations, mind maps, and personalized lesson plans. It is designed primarily for college students, but any student may find it useful.
These AI-generated study materials are rooted in the “ground truth” of the material you upload and will cite their sources with each question, so you can see where a piece of information has been pulled from. If you have used Google NotebookLMhas a similar feeling.
Student Spaces was created by the Adobe Education team, led by Vice President Charlie Miller, also a veteran university professor. The Adobe team worked with more than 500 students at six universities and solicited feedback from them.
The student spaces are intentionally designed to include a wide range of study tools so every type of learner can use them, Miller said.
“As much as possible, we want to be agnostic about the type of learning or the type of content,” Miller said in an interview with CNET. Auditory and visual learners can use audio and video streaming tools, for example. Math students can use an AI tutor to solve equations, while history students can use quizzes and flashcards to remember important events.
Two of the most important things students want from an AI study tool are the ability to collaborate with classmates and have all the tools in one place. Adobe built Student Spaces to be easily shareable through Discord, WhatsApp, and GroupMe. You can also share specific study tools — such as practice tests — without sharing your entire Student Space.
Artificial intelligence is playing an increasing role in education, which has many teachers and parents concerned How children use new technology. Adobe’s AI builds on traditional study tools that require the student to interact with them, not post entire essays, for example.
