Starting April 1, motion-based gaming console Knicks Stadium It will cost $299, an increase of $50 from its original price of $249. In a message to customers on its website, David Lee, co-founder and CEO of Nex, said the company could no longer absorb rising production costs.
“Like many consumer electronics companies, we did our best to absorb these cost increases for as long as possible,” Lee wrote. “However, at current levels, it is no longer something we can do sustainably on our own.”
According to Lee, this increase is largely due to rising prices for key components such as memory (DDR) and storage (eMMC), driven in part by the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure and broader global shortages.
The good news: Nex doesn’t skimp on its subscription. Play Pass remains $89 per year, which still seems like a solid deal considering it unlocks access to over 50 games — with new ones added regularly. For context, a single game on platforms like Xbox or Nintendo Switch can easily cost over $40 all.
Nex Playground also targets a very different audience than traditional consoles. Instead of consoles and competitive play, it’s focused on young kids and families, with simple board game-style action-based experiences with familiar characters like Bluey and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The result is something that gets kids moving as much as it keeps them entertained.
If you’re on the fence, now is the time to pull the trigger.
