I tried to find job postings directly in the Chatbot. Here’s what happened

I don’t need to tell you how bad the job market is right now, it’s even weirder. I’ve had friends tell me they’ve interviewed AI agents and only realized midway through the call that they weren’t talking to a human. How to dehumanize.

While AI is changing how companies hire, it is also being used by candidates. If used correctly, it can help you Review your CV, Make fun of custom cover letters And get new Professional headshot.

Although I’m not looking for a full-time job, I’m constantly checking LinkedIn and Inced for more freelance or contract work. I’ve tested An AI agent tool indeedand it was useful, so when I heard that Reality was now live in ChatGPT, I had to give it a beta try. It’s currently available to people in the US, both free and paid subscribers.

I like the idea of having one interface for all your job searches, but let’s see how it works in practice.

Directed to your next location

Find a job He is Full time job these days. But can finding a job be a conversation? He actually thinks so. Searching for a job takes place in between moments, by chatting with the artificial intelligence while cooking or walking.

Setup is simple.

Download the Indeed app from the ChatGPT app list and connect your Indeed profile. This will import your saved preferences and resume details for a personalized job search experience.

Once you log in to Indeed, go to Account, then Profile.

One thing to keep in mind is to make sure that your resume does not include personal information such as your home address, email address, and phone number. You may also want to log into your Indeed profile and review your resume before linking it to ChatGPT.

When I asked what data was being shared, an Indeed spokesperson told me, “When you choose to share your profile, we do not currently share your physical address, phone number, or any login credentials as part of that process, as we have restricted what ChatGPT can access.”

I will be opting out of “Access My Profile” data.

Also note that Indeed has access to previous ChatGPT conversations. Make sure to read the terms and conditions before completing this step.

I would be very careful about what happens in ChatGPT. Read this explanation If you are concerned about the safety of AI chatbots.

Coming back to ChatGPT, you’ll know reality is connected as soon as you see the code. You can also reach him anytime by mentioning @Indeed in the chat box.

I started my hypothetical job search with a conversation prompt.

You can use prompts like “Writing jobs in New York City that match my editorial and business experience,” and ask for recommendations based on industry trends, salary ranges, or specific work preferences.

It showed me a list of functions that I could scroll through and expand into a larger window, mirroring the original reality experience.

However, you can’t apply directly in ChatGPT, which is frustrating.

I liked that it included explanations below the job listings, giving reasons why I would be a good fit, suggesting the most compatible roles and highlighting market signals. I also appreciated the list of keywords that could help guide my search.

I spent more time asking questions about the jobs it provided me than looking through the jobs section. For fun, I asked ChatGPT/Indeed to narrow down the results to reproductive health writing roles.

This has led to more posts, explanations and keywords.

Judgment

I was pleasantly surprised by this AI use case. Many of the tools I test struggle with the user experience or fail to add real value compared to doing things without AI. While I wish it were possible to apply for jobs directly in ChatGPT so that the experience could be done in one interface, that may not have been the intent. Finding jobs on ChatGPT is probably just the beginning of your search.

Would I have found these jobs directly on Indeed’s website or on Google? probably. But the chat box experience was insightful and fun. He was frank in his advice It didn’t improve my chancesEspecially in the current market.
