Companies like Bushman are already selling Omnidirectional camera lights For 360-degree photography, but they start at more than $300, which is more than half the price of popular 360-degree cameras from companies like DJI and Insta360. Made by Harlowe, a company known for lighting accessories that cater to influencers and enthusiasts Issued a replacement for $95 It’s called Omni 360 which illuminates evenly with a soft, diffused glow in all directions.
The Omni 360’s 2-watt light output can be boosted up to 4 watts as needed, but neither mode is bright enough to fully illuminate a dark environment. It’s well-suited for providing additional illumination to subjects close to the camera that can reduce harsh shadows on the face or create mood-enhancing highlights. The buttons above the Omni 360 control can be used to make adjustments to brightness and color temperature, but hands-free gestures are also supported for settings where you don’t want to risk bumping or moving the camera when it’s mounted on a tripod.
An IP54 rating means the Omni 360 can withstand dust and splashes, but it’s not at all designed for underwater photography. While consumer-focused 360-degree cameras feature tripod screw mounts on the underside, they don’t include stands on the top for additional light. Harlowe’s solution to this problem is a pair of lightweight aluminum cages designed for either Insta360 X5 or DJI Osmo 360 Which can be purchased with the Omni 360 as part of an optional $159 package. The cages add a cold shoe mount to the top and side of each camera to attach the Omni 360, though placing it on top will help ensure light is less noticeable in 360-degree shots.
