The lump not The cabin is off the gridBut it provides all the facilities needed to live comfortably away from civilization. The seven-square-metre tent is an “off-grid facility” that provides solar-generated electricity, satellite broadband, a shower, toilet and kitchenette. It is expected to cost around $35,000 plus an estimated $3,000 for shipping within the European Union.
The idea is to drop a factory-built Klumpen next to a small cabin and press “on” — without requiring any additional permits, plumbers or electricians. The electrical system is built around a 7.5 kWh battery with an inverter to power standard 230-volt appliances and wall outlets. Water is recycled when possible to expand the limited supply, and a built-in heat pump provides cooling and heating when needed.
A prototype of the unit, developed with EU grant funds, has already been tested. Now Himmelsfahrtskommando, an architectural firm based in Stockholm, Sweden, will lead the production of the first batch of ten units. A deposit of €2,000 will be held for Klumpenis expected to ship in September 2026. If you plan to build on a glacier or volcano, the “extreme conditions” aluminum version will be available for $198,000.
