RJ Decker: When will episode 2 come to Hulu?

Scott Speedman, who you may know as Dr. Nick Marsh from the Grey’s Anatomy or Underworld movies, and who I know from the horror film The Strangers, is the star of RJ Decker, the twisty new detective series based on Carl Hiaasen’s novel Double Whammy.

The hour-long drama stars Speedman, you guessed it, RJ Decker. Here, Speedman is at his best, playing a famous photojournalist turned ex-con who builds a new life in South Florida as a private investigator. Technically, the show is a procedural series that follows Decker as he investigates odd cases each week. Thanks to the writing, performances and production style, the series stands out from other prime-time broadcast programs.

To that point, my first thought when watching the pilot episode was that it felt like a combination of Magnum PI (all those Hawaiian shirts!) and Apple TV’s Bad Monkey, another show based on a Hiaasen novel.

Starring alongside Speedman are Jaina Lee Ortiz, Bevin Prue, Adelaide Clemens and Kevin Rankin.
