Another category that usually costs more are good cooling sheets. This is not a requirement to stay calm; I would say the Buffy percale sheets in the cotton section of this story are an excellent cooling sheet since the percale fabric is a breathable weave. But if you’re looking for something with cooling technology — known as PCM, or phase change material that promises to change heat into cool — there’s nothing better than SlumberCloud’s Tencel Performance sheet set. It uses Tencel, a brand of Lyocell fabric, as well as Slumber Cloud’s patented Outlast fiber, which uses a phase-change gel to absorb heat. It’s soft and lightweight, and I found myself completely cool when sleeping on it, which is an impressive feat for hot sleepers like me.

Honorable mentions

Here are more sets I loved that cost a little more. If budget isn’t an issue for you, these are worth exploring.

I loved it Coyuchi Soft Cloud Sateen Sheet Set ($278) Not only does it live up to its soft name (which it does!), but also because it’s still breathable for summer sleeping. Not only that, but these leaves are also organic, With GOTS certificate. Coyuchi also uses a USDA certified bio-softener on these sheets, giving them a comfortable softness compared to the silky softness I find on other sateen sheets. I also like that there are undyed options if you want to avoid dyeing the fabric, I tested the undyed set, and found it to be a lovely neutral colour.

Ettitude Signature Rain Sheet Set ($359.00)) It feels very lightweight to the touch and doesn’t get as hot as heavier bamboo I’ve tried. The sheets remain soft too, maintaining the silky, wonderful feel that bamboo is known for. This set is worth splurging on if you want something super soft, breathable, and won’t leave you sweating at 3 a.m. Not only that, it’s the most highly praised deck I’ve tried Oeko-Tex, FSC, Bcorp, Eco-Cert and Climate Change Certifications.

the Citizenry Stonewashed Linen Sheet Set ($359) It is my gold standard of linen bedding. These sheets are lightweight and breathable but still have the gentle drape and softness you don’t often find in brand new linen. It usually takes a little break-in to get to this point, but Citizen’s sheets feel like you’ve already washed and softened them. With great airflow, these sheets are cool enough for warm nights but not so cold that I won’t be using them all year round. They are Oeko-Tex certifiedWhich means they have been tested for harmful substances and deemed harmless. (It’s not GOTS certified, so we can’t call these leaves completely organic.) If only it were a little cheaper; These sheets used to be the same price as Pottery Barn, but are now more expensive.
