New Tecno phones get thinner at MWC 2026

Wherever crowds gather Mobile World Congressthere probably will be Thin or foldable phone – or both – on the screen. That was certainly the case at Tecno’s booth, where the phone maker showcased several of them Concept devices With amazingly slim designs.

The Tecno Slim 2 is a follow-up to last year’s flagship Spark Slimwhich I first saw as a concept at MWC 2025 before its final release. The upgraded model shrinks the Spark Slim’s 5.93mm frame to 5.49mm. It’s honestly a barely noticeable difference, considering the small unit of measurement. But it’s a testament to how phone companies continue to push the boundaries of mobile devices to develop amazingly thin and lightweight phones. The Slim 2 also features ultra-narrow 0.7mm bezels for more immersive viewing.

The concept phone’s renders list some key specifications, including a 6,150 mAh battery, which is particularly impressive given its sleek build. The rear cameras are listed at 50MP and 13MP.

Another concept that remakes this slim design threefold. The thickness of the Tecno Phantom Ultimate G Fold is only 3.49mm when unfolded and 11.49mm when folded. It opens up to a wide 9.94-inch main screen, making it look like a thin and light tablet that happens to look like a booklet.

Like most foldables out there, the crease on the Phantom Ultimate G Fold was still noticeable, but not blatantly so. There’s a triple rear camera system (listed at 50MP) in the typical phone’s setup. It also includes a 5750 mAh battery. Techno said in July press release The phone’s battery is more than 5000 mAh.

While the Slim 2 and Phantom Ultimate G Fold are still just concepts, they reflect an existing mobile trend: Capture steam. Many phone companies, from apple to Samsung to Motorolathinner phones debuted last year. They’re designed to appeal to shoppers who care less about having the biggest batteries or more advanced cameras and are more interested in downsizing.

Foldable phones are also getting slimmer, including Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7honor Magic V6 OPPO Look for N5 (And soon N6). Two slim trifolds dominated the conversation to showcase the design innovation: Huawei Mate XTS and Galaxy Z Tri-Fold.

It remains to be seen whether Tecno’s latest innovation will join the thin phone lineup or not.
