Apple updated the faulty iPad

I was ready to write this week’s story on my entry-level iPad and finally have Apple Intelligence support. This story never happened because the iPad never happened. iPad I tend to recommend For people, the product that is the best buy for families and children, the product that suits them It’s actually called “iPad”, It remains out of date. Instead, over the past six months Apple has upgraded its already more powerful and expensive iPads.

the iPad Pro M5released last fall, took the already fast and expensive iPad and made it even faster. But for whose benefit? I greatly appreciate the iPad Pro’s gorgeous OLED display and its thinner size in the keyboard case, but with a starting price of $999, it will cost you the same or more than a MacBook Air for the privilege.

the New iPad AirApple’s Goldilocks-in-the-middle iPad just got a new M4 chip and faster wireless internals. It’s a $599-plus offering, which isn’t bad for its capabilities, but depending on how much storage and how many accessories you get, it’s more like a low-cost pro iPad with a few extras. There’s no OLED screen, for example.

But what about the basic iPad?

The regular iPad is the iPad that needs to be upgraded most often. The current model, which costs $349, only has the A16 chip inside. This is the same chip that Apple debuted iPhone 14 Pro In 2022, that is, three and a half years ago.

This A16 chip is the only chip in Apple’s current lineup that can’t do this Apple intelligence. The iPad was cut short from Apple’s much-touted and deeply disappointing AI.

I’d say you wouldn’t miss Apple Intelligence, but that’s the way it is now. Things must change soon. Apple’s new deal with Google It will connect Gemini to Siri, in ways that have yet to be explained, but that should eventually improve AI in Apple products. And again, as far as history indicates, this iPad won’t make it.

The A16 chip is also another year older and comparatively slower. That’s still fine for everyday movies, games, and basic stuff, but as an investment, it’s a trickier proposition. The base 128GB storage space is sufficient, but Apple doesn’t do any favors in terms of storage space there.

Is this a hidden price hike in disguise?

The message seems clear: Apple wants you to spend your money on a fancier iPad. In this economy, it’s harder than ever. It also makes me angrier that Apple hasn’t yet found a way to turn iPads into Mac-compatible replacements, even though iPadOS is getting better at doing more things, and Apple will likely release a new version of iPadOS. Even MacBooks are affordable. But that’s why I’ve always felt that spending less on an iPad makes more sense, because it’s not a replacement for a Mac.

So I’m waiting. And so do others, I bet. The iPad Air is good, but it’s not a new iPad for everyday use. And for those who were hoping for a good family deal, I’m sorry: I think Apple is considering the Air as the new primary iPad now. With the better Pro and Air models, the base iPad, unfortunately, looks worse than ever.
