Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth classifies anthropogenic as a supply chain risk

This week Anthropic provided a masterclass in arrogance and betrayal as well as a textbook case for how not to do business with the US government or the Pentagon.

Our position has never wavered and will never waver: The War Department must have full and unrestricted access to Anthropic Models for every lawful purpose in the defense of the Republic.

Instead, @AnthropicAI and its CEO @DarioAmodei chose duplicity. Hiding behind the rhetoric of “effective altruism,” they have tried to strong-arm America’s military into submission – a cowardly, corporate virtue-signalling act that puts Silicon Valley ideology above the lives of Americans.

The terms of service of flawed humanitarian altruism will never trump the safety, preparedness, or lives of American forces on the battlefield.

Their real goal is unambiguous: to seize veto power over operational decisions made by the United States Armed Forces. This is unacceptable.

As President Trump stated on Truth Social, the commander-in-chief and the American people alone will determine the fate of our armed forces, not unelected tech executives.

The humanitarian position is fundamentally inconsistent with American principles. Therefore their relationship with the United States Armed Forces and the federal government changed permanently.

Concurrent with the President’s directives to the Federal Government to cease all uses of Anthropic technology, I am directing the War Department to designate Anthropic as a supply chain risk to national security. As of now, no contractor, supplier, or partner doing business with the U.S. military may conduct any business activity with Anthropic. Anthropic will continue to provide its services to the War Department for no more than six months to allow a smooth transition to a better and more patriotic service.

American fighters will not become hostages to the ideological whims of Big Tech. This decision is final.
