Snow is As it thaws, the days get longer, and I can almost smell the coming spring. Soon, we’ll be cruising around town on com. ebikes And electric scooters instead of burning fossil fuels. Right now, the weather hasn’t quite improved, which is great for write-offs. Many of the best electric scooters are still seeing deep discounts. If you’re thinking of buying one, now is the best time: prices are low, and sunny commuting days are coming.
Gear editor Julian Chocatto He spent five years testing over 45 Electric scooters. These are his top picks on sale now.
This is Gear editor Julian Chokkattu’s favorite scooter. The ride is powerful and smooth, thanks to its dual 350W motors and solid front and rear suspension. The top speed is 28 mph, which doesn’t make it the fastest scooter on the market, but it has a good range. (Chokkattu is a very tall guy and was able to travel 15 miles on a single charge at 15 mph.) Other Apollo features he appreciated: turn signals, a dot-matrix display, and a buzzer, plus a headlight and LED strip for added visibility.
The Apollo Phantom 2.0 tops out at 44 mph, with plenty of power from its dual 1,750-watt motors. It is a great scooter, designed with 11-inch self-healing tubeless tires and double wishbone suspension for a smooth riding experience. But with great power comes great weight. At 102 pounds, the Phantom 2.0 is the heaviest electric scooter Chokkattu has tested, so I’d only recommend this purchase if you don’t live small and/or have a garage.
