Peloton announced today that it will launch its first 12-week Hyrox training program to help members prepare for the race. Peloton previously hinted at this program when it launched its new program Cross training equipment line In October.
This training program is intended to coincide with the Hyrox NYC race which will be held from May 28 to May 31, and June 4 to June 7. Hyrox has become increasingly popular among hybrid athletes (those who do strength and cardio exercises), and Peloton tends to support competitive fitness athletes looking to try something new or challenge themselves.
Peloton instructors Andy Speer and Adrian Williams participate in the HeroX competition.
Hyrox is known for its challenging courses that include eight functional exercise stations and running one kilometer (just over half a mile) eight times. Some people join teams, while others do it on their own. No matter how you get involved, it takes preparation and strategy to succeed.
“This program will train your motor…it will train your strength, and it will train your mind to stay alert when you get fatigued,” said Robin Arzon, Peloton’s lead instructor, vice president of fitness programs and a Hyrox Certified Performance Coach. The goal of the program is to do more than just get you through the race, she said in a statement. “We build you to own it.”
Robin Arzon will be one of the instructors teaching the Peloton Hyrox training program.
If you sign up for a 12-week program, you’ll need to be prepared to work. This is supposed to be done seven days a week. This training program will consist of five components to help you arrive at race day feeling strong and prepared. The five core areas that Peloton will focus on include:
Aerodynamic force: Teaches athletes how to manage effort and build endurance.
Simple tools with big impact: Learn how to develop hybrid stamina.
Efficiency over speed: Use smart speed and conserve energy during the cycle.
Progressive size: Training through cumulative fatigue and intentional loading.
Performance engines: Recover and fuel properly during the training cycle.
Members will train for this race with Peloton classes they already enjoy, like Tread Boot Camps, Strength, Rowing, and Mobility/Stretching. The first six weeks of your cross-training program will focus on building your aerobic capacity and determining threshold control.
In the second half, athletes will undergo a 75-minute race simulation to test speed and transition skills. The final weeks will add another challenge by focusing on “real demand” training, which will include heavy push-ups with sleds, wall balls and running.
The program is designed to be customizable, whether you’re a Hyrox newbie or an experienced athlete. You’ll learn the mechanics and how to transition between stations, and get used to your race weights based on where you are in your plan.
Instructors you can expect to see teaching these classes include Robin Arzon, Andy Speer, Ash Pryor, Adrienne Williams, Logan Aldridge, Chelsea Jackson Roberts, Jocelyn Thompson Rolle, and Alex Karowski.
Peloton’s Hyrox training program is now available on the Peloton app and devices. You can also connect with other community members who train on Hyrox through the official Hyrox training team on the Peloton app.
