Uber is moving into parking in deal to acquire SpotHero

Uber has it It has agreed to acquire SpotHerothe digital marketplace for parking, in a move that expands Uber’s ambitions beyond ride-hailing and delivery services. The deal was announced on Monday and is expected to close in the first half of 2026, pending regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.

SpotHero lets drivers reserve and pay for parking in advance, with coverage covering more than 13,000 garages and valet locations in more than 400 cities in the U.S. and Canada.

Uber said the company plans to integrate SpotHero’s parking services directly into its app, giving customers another option for planning trips that involve driving instead of trips.

The acquisition fits into Uber’s broader push to become a comprehensive transportation app. In recent years, the company has aggressively expanded into food delivery, grocery orders, car rentals, courier services, transportation integrations, and subscriptions through Uber One. Parking reservations can easily be aggregated in this ecosystem, which will be especially useful for commuters, airport travelers, and people attending large events.

For SpotHero, the deal provides access to Uber’s massive user base and deeper integration into everyday travel planning. The company will continue to work with parking operators while its technology is integrated into the Uber platform.
