Spotify is rolling out AI-powered targeted playlists in the UK and other markets

After initial testing of the AI-powered “Wanted Playlists” feature in New Zealand Which was recently launched in United States and CanadaSpotify Announce On Monday, the tool will be rolled out to premium subscribers in the UK, Ireland, Australia and Sweden.

Guided playlists allow users to create personalized playlists by describing what they want to listen to in their own words. Instead of searching for individual songs or artists, users can describe the vibe, scenario, or inspiration they want, and Spotify will take care of the rest.

To access this feature, users click Create, select the desired playlist, and then enter any English prompt. The feature is designed to interpret themes including mood, aesthetics, and even memories. Prompts can be as broad or specific as the user wants, referencing musical eras, genres, activities, lyrics, instruments, or even requesting a playlist inspired by a TV show, movie, or personal event. Users can also select whether they want the playlist to include mostly new music or only music from their library at the prompt.

Once you submit the prompt, Spotify’s AI creates a personalized playlist tailored to the request. The system is based on the user’s listening history and integrates current music and cultural trends. Additionally, each song comes with a short explanation that provides insight into why it was chosen for that specific playlist.

Users can improve their playlists by adjusting their prompts or starting over. For those whose music tastes are constantly evolving, playlists can be scheduled to update automatically on a daily or weekly basis.
