Meta next release of Ray-Ban screen Smart glasses could arrive later this year, along with a watch. When i I spoke with Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth Last year, he told me that the Neural Meta band that was released with the Ray-Ban Display glasses last fall was something that would eventually make sense as part of the watch. That’s exactly what I think will happen this year.

Meta won’t be alone in its wearable triangulation mission. Apple is said to be planning When glasses are released and perhaps a pin that fits AirPods and Apple Watch. The Google XR team assured me that it is Smart glasses coming in 2026 It will work with Android watches too.
The biggest problem with Meta’s fantastic Neuroband accessory, which uses skin-based electromyography to sense motor neuron signals and translate them into interface gestures, is that it currently only works to control Ray-Ban Display glasses. Wearing a nerve bracelet and a smartwatch at the same time is not ideal. Meta’s next step may be to combine the two.
But it’s also likely that Meta’s wearables team will be working on ways to make the wrist wearable more than just recognizing hand gestures. Enter a smartwatch that can add fitness tracking. If I were to guess a partner for this smartwatch, it would be Garmin. Meta clearly has a partnership with them, both for the fitness functionality of the existing glasses and the smart car offering I tried out. Of all the smartwatch manufacturers that aren’t made by Apple, Google, or Samsung, Garmin is the best bet remaining.
One thing a watch can also do is be a better companion for glasses. The touch screen can act as a viewfinder or control the camera on the glasses.
The watch could be another place the Meta could explore on board the AI, either as a companion to the glasses or for AI-enabled fitness functions.
We probably won’t know more until later this year, since Meta’s Connect developer conference, where its new products are announced, usually takes place in September. But the debut of a new nerve-equipped watch with next-generation Ray-Ban Display glasses (hopefully with a broader range of subscription support and developer access to create apps) will make a lot of sense as Apple and Google look ready to dive into the same territory.
