Wacom’s new MovinkPad 11 is a compelling alternative to iPad For serious digital artists looking for a portable drawing tool. It’s not as powerful as a full workstation or even an iPad, but battery life is good, the drawing experience is best-in-class, and you can take it with you.
Whether you’re a confirmed digital fan or, like me, you still prefer it Paper, pens or pencils But you want to dabble in digital art, the MovinkPad is a compelling alternative to the iPad. Your iPad is likely to lure you onto the Internet or pester you with messages from friends. You can put such distractions on the MovinkPad (don’t!), but it’s a more focused device designed to get out of your way and let you draw.
Digital drawing board
Your standard digital art setup is a computer, ideally a powerful desktop with a nice monitor, a drawing tablet, and some type of desktop software. Instead, many people use the iPad, but in my experience they really want to iPad Pro For a ProMotion display, or at least Air For the M series chip. None of these are cheap.
The Wacom MovinkPad 11 seeks to combine these experiences into one device. It’s a drawing tablet first with a screen similar to what you’d use with a desktop drawing tablet. In fact, drawing on the MovinkPad is the closest thing to drawing on paper that I’ve tested.
Movink Pad 11 is A tablet running Android 14With 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space. Unfortunately, there is no microSD card slot. The display is an 11-inch, 2200 x 1440-pixel LCD with anti-glare treatment and a surface texture that does a good job of emulating paper. The screen attaches directly to the textured surface, so you don’t get the drawing-on-glass feel you get with the iPad. Actual drawing area is 9.6 inches by 6.3 inches.
The MovinkPad runs Android and comes with the Google Play Store so you can use it as you would a regular Android tablet: watch movies, browse the web, etc. But the focus is largely on drawing. Think of MovinkPad as your own portable digital sketchbook.
