the next Apple musicLatest ads in Super BowlYou’re probably wondering if you should sign up – and we have good news for people planning to switch. Apple Music subscribers can now get songs or playlists from other music platforms in particular SpotifyAnd bring them To Apple. This feature was only added a few months ago, and since it’s buried in Apple’s Music app settings, not many people know it exists.
It was initially tested in Australia and New Zealand last year. This transfer option It has now been released in the US, UK, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany and many other countries. It’s powered by the SongShift service, for which you’ll need to access the library you’re transferring music from. Here’s how it works and my own experience with the service.
Apple’s music transfer option doesn’t currently work for me, but it has been rolled out in major countries around the world.
Switching your playlists is simple once you know where they’re going. Here’s how to get started:
When SongShift completes the transfer, Apple Music will attempt to create an identical playlist or choose a song based on its library. Users will be required to double-check certain matches, and not every song may have an alternative version on Apple Music.
Apple Music now lets you transfer all the playlists you created yourself from other sources.
Although the feature is available, it seems a little buggy at the moment. When I tried the music transfer button on my device Apple deviceit was grayed out and said: “Once the current transfer is complete, you can start another transfer.” The problem was that I hadn’t started transferring any songs yet.
When I tried to use my computer browser, I was able to transfer from my Tidal account. However, Spotify said: “Currently busy, try again later,” an equally vague message that prevented me from trying any Spotify transfers.
Although it appears that SongShift has a knot to untangle, if it works, Spotify users should be able to move their playlists and potentially their entire subscriptions to Apple.
This new transmission option can open many opportunities for listeners. Families who use two music services, such as Spotify and Apple Music, can now coordinate music more easily.
CNET writer Aaron BronerHe, who has created hundreds of streaming music playlists on Spotify and Apple Music, stated that this could solve many of his problems.
“I have an Android device that doesn’t work with my HomePod. My wife has an iPhone,” Brunner said. “Making certain playlists accessible and playable on our phones through a single streaming platform will likely be something we need.”
He also touched on the limitations of his current setup. “Joining the Spotify family plan is great until I try to listen to Kendrick Lamar in the car, only to find out it’s been moved to my daughter’s bedroom because she’s also listening to Spotify at the same time,” Broner said.
Apple’s transfer feature makes it easier to ditch Spotify completely and move to Apple Music, which may be a goal for some customers. Spotify made news last year for Allowing artificial intelligence to imitate existing artists (Something Many music services have struggled). Many independent artists Like King Gizzard and Deerhoof leaving Spotify Regarding the CEO’s military investments in artificial intelligence.
However, results will depend on the overlap between their music selections on other platforms and what Apple Music already offers. I suggest holding off on canceling any other service until you’ve finished your transfers and checked to see what Apple service can replace it. You may find some glitches in your favorite playlists once the transfer is complete, so be patient and see how it works.
