Bryte Balance Pro Smart Mattress Review: Sleeping is believing

There are 100 firmness levels to choose from with the Balance Pro, and it also features the softest memory foam topper of all mattress offerings. I ended up leaning toward firmer levels to compensate for this softness, landing at 60, while my husband opted for 80. It took about a week to adjust our preferences and set a baseline, as shown in the Bryte app during installation.

Another notable feature of smart mattresses, besides customizable firmness, is compatibility with adjustable bases. Adjustable bases allow the smart mattress head and feet to move into different positions, whether to help treat snoring or to elevate your feet. We tried the Balance Pro on Adjustable base I ultimately decided not to, which wasn’t the case with the other smart mattresses I tested.

We found that the Bryte stabilizers were so solid that we didn’t want to risk the material collapsing just by wanting to move the head and feet of the mattress up and down. I reached out to the Brite team to confirm if it was indeed adjustable base friendly, and they said it was. But given the price of the bed and how the initial attempt went, I’m sweating about trying again. The Bryte team also told me that it works great with a traditional flat bed frame, and I’m here to tell you: please go this route instead. Maybe even take over Thuma Classic Bed Frame To create an overall hotel aesthetic at home.

Over time, I actually didn’t mind that we technically lost this typical smart bed feature. The Bryte Balance Pro can adjust its stability across different zones, and I can seamlessly detect the change as I make the adjustment. I’m not sure I would be able to make the same distinction if I had an adjustable frame supported by zero gravity and other angles.

Wave

I’ve never been a specialist in massage parlors, which usually come with smart mattresses. Technically, this feature is achieved through adjustable bases rather than the mattress itself. To me, they usually feel like I’m trying to reenact a small earthquake rather than mitigate it. Not to mention, the vibration from this setup isn’t exactly quiet.

All Bryte mattresses, including the Balance Pro, offer a library of settings focused on meditation, sleep, wakefulness, and even light massage. It’s not as extensive Calm appBut its effectiveness and integration with the bed design impressed me. Each area of the Bryte Balancers in bed is activated to mimic waves, which Bryte calls “BryteWaves,” that gently roll down the body, from head to toe, like a gentle ocean wave. By playing around with the settings, you can add sound to guide you through meditative breathing and natural soundscapes, such as thunderstorms and acoustic music, to accompany that soft rolling. Ironically, my favorites ended up being two massage modes: “Rhythmic Wave” and “Back Release,” where Bright Balancers gently presses under my shoulder before working its way down my back. It’s not a full-body massage by any means, but it’s quickly become my favorite way to fall asleep.

Bryte Balancers also have a “Silent Wake” setting that gently wakes you up without the need for an alarm. However, this was a make or break setup for us. Some days I would notice it, but other days I would actually be awake and moving before the time I programmed it to start. For deep sleepers, like my husband, you probably won’t notice it at all.
