The best 55-inch TVs of 2025, tested by CNET TV experts

Samsung DU7200: If CNET had a best value for money award, one of the early winners would be the Samsung DU7200, a TV that delivers a really good picture at an affordable price. Black levels and shadow detail are excellent for the money, and although our test unit looked a little desaturated out of the box, this can easily be fixed by adjusting the color control. It has live streaming and the sound quality isn’t too bad either. If you’re looking for a bedroom unit or gaming TV, the Samsung DU7200 is the model we’d choose.

LG OLED C3: When we reviewed the C3 in 2023, it was one of our favorite TVs, and that impression continued into the following year. It’s still a great TV, but with prices matching the C4’s right now, it makes sense to opt for the newer TV.

Hisense U8K: The budget-friendly U8K delivers excellent image quality thanks to its mini LED backlights and full local dimming array. It also includes unique gaming features and runs on the easy-to-use Google TV platform. Additionally, the U8K is significantly cheaper than other 55-inch TVs of similar quality from more established brands, making it a strong contender for those looking for a great deal on a 55-inch TV.

Roco Select Series: The Roku Select showed off some of the best colors of the group with natural skin tones as well as good color saturation. However, the reason to buy the Roku Select series is the same (barely) Anything with the Roku name on it: Excellent user interface. However, the Roku Select I tested had the worst picture quality, especially when watching movies. Its black levels were dull, its shadows tinged with green, and it also had more distracting reflections when viewed in a bright room.

Samsung QN90B: If you’re in the market for a top-end 55-inch TV but prefer not to use OLED, the Samsung QN90B is an excellent choice. This TV features QLED TV technology with micro LEDs for a brighter picture than any OLED TV. Although OLED TVs still win the contrast battle in our side-by-side tests, the QN90B’s QLED display is closer than ever to matching them.
