Accuracy is not a strong suit. Sweetness, sassiness and unexpected textures prevail. And if the French cocoa establishment could be crippling, our only French taster was happy, saying the box made her feel “like a kid again.” In a word, bon bon bon ho Hazar. Who hates fun? (Don’t answer.)

Love comes in many forms. For one thing, the nostalgic chocolate caramels and truffles from Vermont’s Big Picture Farm arrive in the form of a classic, tried-and-true chocolate box. The box, on the other hand, is rustic cardboard and comes along with adorable pictures of smiling goats. “I love goats,” says the chocolate card. “Do you like goats?”
It turns out we do. Our tasters universally enjoyed the simple pastoral presentation and complex goat milk character of Big Picture Farm’s nostalgic desserts, whether goat milk caramels and truffles or goofy little eyed chocolate turtles. Each chocolate bar tasted a little better than expected, with no weird note or moodiness.
