LED masks, which contain light-emitting diodes in the form of red, near-infrared and blue light, are still making wellness waves as one of the newest (and most expensive) ways to revamp your at-home skincare routine, using a low-energy approach to anti-aging and skin rejuvenation that’s already been done in a dermatologist’s office.

However, this does not mean that all LED face masks are created equal. In fact, many of them do not have the correct specifications or safety clearance to improve skin glow or reduce acne.

Before you begin light therapy at home, it’s important to note that an LED face mask should not replace your current skincare routine that consists of research-backed ways to keep your skin healthy and glowing, including using sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, finding a face-washing rhythm that suits your skin type and regularly using other skin-boosting agents, such as retinoids.

It’s also important to keep in mind that even the best LED face masks won’t perform skin miracles or cause your face to radically change. If this is your goal, you may consider more direct cosmetic or surgical care such as Botox or fillers.

With all that said, there is enough evidence linking red light therapy to improved skin appearance to make an investment in a high-quality LED face mask worth it. To make your search a little easier, we’ve compiled a list of the best LED face masks available.
