Carrot Weather gives you the weather with a little personality. Here’s a twist: You can choose what kind of personality you want the app to have, from professional, which disables the banter, to over-the-top — expect some heavy profanity. You can also choose which policy the app embodies, from policy to chaotic policy.
This app gives you access to standard weather information such as daily temperatures, weather conditions, and future forecasts. Other environmental information, such as the current moon phase and UV index, is also easier to find on the app’s home page than some other weather apps.
The app is unique in that you can “relate” to it by charging it, praising it, or correcting its mistakes from the Carrot tab. Charging is simply tapping the power supply on the screen, praising requires you to speak to the app via your phone’s microphone, and debugging requires you to shake your phone. Once you’ve bonded enough with the app, you can start messaging using the in-app chatbot. This is definitely unique among other weather apps on this list.
Although this app can be funny and give you a good weather analysis, it does not offer a radar with the free version of the app.
On the surface, island weather privacy policy It seems clear. It says the app only collects information that is “absolutely necessary” to run the service. Later, the message indicates that your information may be shared with other services, such as AccuWeather.
The policy also notes that the above-mentioned chatbot uses OpenAI’s ChatGPT service. The policy says it sends these messages to an intermediary server to try to prevent personally identifiable information from being passed on to third parties. But the content of the messages is passed to OpenAI’s servers, which “may collect, process and store information about you that it extracts from the messages you send.”
