Apple is said to be on the right track To add another subscription service this year. according to BloombergIt will be a personal health coach that uses artificial intelligence to provide nutritional advice and medical suggestions based on data within the Apple Health app.
If Apple is going to get into the AI doctor business, I want to be prepared by collecting as much health data as possible using smart devices connected to my iPhone and monitoring apps. Even the ones that follow my blood.

This means stabbing myself with a blood glucose monitor that stays on my arm for two weeks. (Don’t worry, I didn’t feel a thing.)
In this week’s episode of One More Thing, embedded above, I address why it makes sense for Apple to want to up the ante on its health tracking and advice offerings. And I explain a little why I’m also involved in this endeavor to collect personal health data.
Many over-the-counter tools allow you to keep track of all kinds of things at home without a doctor’s help. (Although I have to book a check-up soon.) I can track my metabolism using Lingo blood glucose meter. I can track hormonal changes in my saliva using illy hormonal health. I can track kidney health by stickiness Tools in the toiletIt’s not cheap, but urine can be tracked!)
What we do with this data is the next step. Apps like Apple Health can store them in charts to send to doctors for analysis. Some apps also offer a light touch of advice. But can an AI chatbot understand trends in data, and can we trust it?
If you can’t wait for Apple, there are a few AI-powered chatbots that offer just that thing. Earlier this month, OpenAI has launched the ChatGPT Health app As a hub for all your medical queries, Anthropic is announced Claude Healthcare. Both make use of your personal data stored in Apple Health as well as other apps. Both are in a slow testing phase.
Google also made headlines this month for its AI health advice, although it wasn’t good. Investigation by The Guardian has found that Google is providing dangerously inaccurate health advice On blood tests, which the report says “leave people with serious liver disease mistakenly believing they are healthy.”
The truth of that Apple will use Google Gemini models in upcoming Siri upgrades It doesn’t provide a lot of confidence that Dr. Siri will have anything useful worth paying for right away. However, I’ll be ready – with more connected health tools and increased activity on Fitness Plus to provide Apple Health with additional data while I wait for clues about new software. I’ll keep you posted on how things go.
Besides, even if health coaching doesn’t work, at least I’ll be working out… for me.
